The number of people with diabetes in China is estimated to be 1 in 10 out of Chinese adult. Diabetes has become a major public health crisis in China, with an annual projected (預算的;估計的)cost of 360 billion RMB (almost 60 billion USD) by 2030.

Assessment data

Mrs. Taylor, age 53 years, is admitted to the hospital for a hysterectomy. She has had Type I (insulin dependent) diabetes since the age of 20. Mrs. Taylor has recently started blood glucose monitoring at home and has achieved fairly good control of her diabetes. Her blood sugars usually are withinnormal limit; her blood lipids remain at acceptable levels. She is about 10 pounds’ overweight, and in general she has a sense of health and well-being.
