Keith launched(開辦)a website for his own company at the age of 10. While other children were receiving awards for their achievements, Peiris was giving scholarships from Cyberteks Design, his own company, to pupils at his school.
Though he"s just a teenager, he is already experiencing the pains of adult life.
Peiris is about 1.5 metres tall with big brown eyes and curly (卷曲的)jet-black hair. "His big eyes show his intelligence. They show his wisdom," said Christine St Pierre, a journalist from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
When he was asked for an exclusive (獨(dú)家的)interview, Peiris looked at his watch and said, "20 minutes, 30 minutes at most, OK?"
He has the air of a real businessman who treasures every minute of his time.
Cyberteks Design mainly serves North America. But since Peiris visited China, he said he would try to find a way to cater for(迎合) China"s Shanghai market as well.
"China is growing and in the next 10 to 20 years it will be among the top countries for business. Now China"s become a member of the WTO, Shanghai will have more business opportunities ," said the young businessman.
"At the moment it is hard to compete with local companies in Shanghai because of the cost, especially of hardware."
"At first, my age will be the largest issue, but in the end that won"t be important," he added, "Once I get more and more clients(客戶),we will build a reputation(信譽(yù)) and people will take me more seriously."
Peiris answers questions quickly and is very articulate (表達(dá)能力強(qiáng)的)for his age. He said he had come to know Shanghai pretty well through TV programmes shown on CNN before his trip.
He added, "When I was about five, my father gave me my own computer and started teaching me a few things about how to use it. I have not seen any parents do that for their children."

6.Light travels at a speed which is about a million times faster than the speed of sound. In one second, light travels about 300,000km. But sound travels only 344m. You can get some idea of this difference by watching the start of a race. If you stand some distance away from the starter, you can see smoke comes from his gun before the sound reaches your ears.
This great speed of light gives us some strange facts. Sunlight takes about 8 minutes to reach us. If you look at the light of the moon tonight, remember that the light left the moon 1.3 seconds before it reached you. The nearest star is so far away that the light which you can see from it tonight started to travel towards you four years ago at a speed of nearly 2 million km per minute. In some case, the light from one of tonight"s stars started on its journey to you before you were bola.
Thus, if you want to be honest, you cant say" The stars are shining to night"? You have to say "The stars look pretty. They were shining four years ago but their light has just reached Earth".

16.Forty-thousand of the world’s young children die every day. Many of these deaths can be prevented. In fact, experts say, techniques now exist to save the lives of half of these children. The techniques are medically effective(有效的), simple to use and low cost. The biggest task has been to inform. parents "about these life-saving techniques.
Diarrhea(腹瀉) is the main cause of death among children in developing countries. Diarrhea results when the body tries to clear itself of harmful bacteria (細(xì)菌). The body does this by getting out liquids, sometimes uncontrollably. If too much water, sugar and salt are lost in this way, the body cannot work normally. The child may die.
The United Nations International Children"s Fund, UNICF, introduces a technique. It uses a simple mixture of sugar and salt in water. The mixture does not stop diarrhea. But if used often as needed, it keeps fluid (體液) levels normal until the body has fought off the harmful bacteria.
In Egypt, for example, the treatment was used in a children’s health care program in the province of Alexandria. It reduced by one-half the number of deaths caused by diarrhea. The technique has now been used throughout tile country.
